Welcome back. Are you looking for a good
green smoothie recipe? How about the best green smoothie recipe? Do you want to
know why it’s the best? I’ll show you in a minute. So, before we dive in, I want to
talk a little bit about why is this the best green smoothie recipe. So, I’m going to
tell you a little bit about that. First of all, it has tons of grains in it which
these are some of the most nutrient packed foods that you can eat. And
instead of eating a big salad for lunch you can have a big gorgeous smoothie for
breakfast and get a whole lot of greens. It’s just a great way to improve your
nutrition for the day. So, a lot of green smoothie recipes have some greens but
not as many as this recipe. Now, the other reason why this is the best is not only
does it have tons of grains in it but it also tastes good.Have you ever had one
of those green, green smoothies that is all vegetables? It’s not for the
faint of heart, right? If you’ve tried them before you know what I’m talking
about. So, I love this smoothie because it’s
packed with as many grains as I can reasonably fit into this blender and it
still tastes great. So, I’m going to show you exactly how that’s accomplished with
these ingredients. The other reason it’s the best and why I love it so much, it
works for my life. We’re busy, right? You’re busy, I’m busy. So, there’s a magic
ingredient in this smoothie recipe that actually makes this perfect for making
ahead of time. I often make this the night before or I make it the morning of
and I make a huge blender of it. So, there’s actually two servings in here
for me. And it lasts all day long even into 2 to 3 days. I can have this
sitting in my fridge just waiting for me. How much better would that be for you to
come home and there’s a healthy smoothie waiting for you in the fridge and it
tastes like it just came out of the blender? I’m going to show you how to do
that. So, let’s dive in. So, ingredients. We’ve got a big tub of power greens is
what this container said. You’re looking for anything that’s got our
what we call our leafy greens. So we’re looking for kale, Swiss chard, arugula
would be great. It really any greens like that along those lines. This one
also has some spinach which is good. So, this is a 16 ounce package. We
might use most of this. We’ll see how much I can pack in here. You can tweak
the ratios depending on how hardcore you want to be. But I’m going to show you a
way to make this. Surefire, it’s going to be delicious.
So, we’ve got tons of greens in here and then we’re going to have some bananas.
Now, let me talk about bananas for a minute.
I know these don’t look super appetizing to peel them and eat them right now. To
some people there. To me, not so much. But this is actually what we want for a
good smoothie banana. So, it’s got all of these spots. This means that it’s soft in
its sweet. This is going to add a lot of great flavor to the smoothie and it’s
also going to make it really, really creamy. The other thing that’s going to really
punch the flavor is the fruit blend that you choose. Now, I like having a blend. You
can kind of create your own depending on what you like. But this one is really
really good for kind of masking that really green flavor of all the greens
we’re going to put in here. Because it’s got some pineapple.
It’s got mango, it’s got strawberries. All of those are pretty powerful fruits that
are going to cover the flavor of the Greens really well.
Okay? And then we have our magic ingredient. This is Chia seed. Chia seeds
are crazy. I never knew about these before I got into this health food stuff.
But these actually turn gelatinous when they come in contact with water, okay? You
can actually use chia seed as an egg replacer, side note. But in a smoothie,
this actually acts as a stabilizer. A really natural stabilizer. It’s also
really high in nutrition. It’s got omega-3s and all sorts of good things in
these. So, I’ve got about a quarter cup of those to make a whole blender for this
smoothie. So, as you can see, we’ve got a lot of really nutritious food here. This
is a fantastic tru 5 blender of goodness, okay? So, we’ve got our greens.
That’s a vegetable of course. We’ve got lots of great fruit with the bananas and
the mixed fruit. And then you’ve even got your nuts and seeds group over here
those chia seeds. So, let’s start putting these ingredients together. So, I’m going to
put as much of these greens in here as I can. I know this is gonna be a little
scary but just trust me. And I’ll give you some guidance to not make it go too
far. Because I really do want this to be delicious for you. So, we’re gonna get as
much of this as we can up to… If you have a blender similar to mine, mine goes up
to 8 cups. We’re going to try to pack these greens up to that 6 cup mark. And I’ll
show you what that’s going to look like. We really are packing us. Okay. So, we’ve got
that pretty packed and I’m just shy of the 6 cup mark. Probably get a little bit
more in there. Six mark is safe, I promise. This is still gonna be delicious. I’m
gonna call that good. Okay. So the next thing I like to add is the bananas. Now,
I’ve got 3 here becuase they’re kind of small. If they’re larger, you can probably
get away with 2 just fine. So again, the bananas is what’s going to make this
smoothie really creamy. Sometimes I think a lot of people will try to add soy milk
and almond milk and things even coconut milk to really add the creaminess to the
smoothies. But really these bananas do the trick.
Especially if they’re ripe enough. Okay. So, I put all three bananas in here. Next
things we’re going to do the chia seed. About a handful or a quarter cup. Okay.
Next, we’re going to get this fruit in here. So, any mixed fruit will do. like I said,
this is one that I love. Actually get this at Costco. But I would look for the
tropical fruit blend. Now usually in the grocery store when you’re trying to eat
healthy, you try to be really careful of what’s… What’s in this, right? We always
flip it over and we read the ingredients. Good news about frozen fruit, almost 100%
of the time, you’re going to be safe. You can look for an organic bag of fruit if you
would like. If that’s something you want to focus on. But any kind of fruit will
really do great. So, you can see, I have got this all the way to the top with my
fruit. Now, the max fill line on my blender is quite a bit lower than that.
But we’re going to be okay. Because as soon as this starts blending, those greens are
gonna compact and drop down. So our very last ingredient is water. We do need some
liquid in here to make this work. So, just the best water you’ve got. If it’s
filtered water or you know, whatever you think about water. And what I’m going to do
with this is I’m going to fill it up just to the point where I see the grains.
And I don’t really want to go much above that because it’ll get more watery than you
want it to be. Okay. That looks about right.
Alright. We’re gonna take this over to the blender and get this going.
Alright. So, we’re ready to roll. Let me talk a little bit about this blender.
This recipe does work best with a high-powered blender. This is a Vitamix
or a Blendtec works great. You can even try normal blenders. If you do that route
you might want to add more liquid and just give it more time to work through
the material. The great thing about these high-powered blenders is that it can
just rip through this without any problem. So it makes this a breeze. I love
the Vitamix because it has this. So, we can control and make sure that
everything’s getting mixed in really good. We’ll see if I need it or not. On
this blender, I’ve got a smoothie setting that I’m just gonna hit go on. But the
principle is basically kind of start on a low speed and then work your way up
until you’re at a pretty high speed. And all of the ingredients and all of the
instructions on this will in the video description. There we go.
I love the smoothie setting on that. I can just hit it and go. Okay.
Green smoothie, right? I promise it will still taste good. It’s going to be awesome.
So, I’ve got a couple things here. You can see I have a giant blender full of
smoothie. I am NOT going to drink this in one setting. I’m going to probably drink
it in 2. Sometimes less than that. Just depends on
the day. But grab your favorite tumbler. I like having a nice big straw. This is a
glass straw. I’ve seen stainless steel straws that work really well too. I’m
going to fill this thing up and then the rest of this, since it keeps so well is
going to go in a mason jar. And this can just go in the fridge. Like I said, this
stays good for 2 or even 3 days. You can fill that all the way up to top. Now
for me, I’ve got little kids at home. When they see me making a smoothie, yes, this
smoothie is even good enough for my little kids. They come calling. So, this
actually made a little bit of extra. So if my kids were around, I’d be
