This is Shap Restaurant near Kozhikode beach. Here, the lunch is called as chorum kootanum( rice and curries) The curries are all ready. We will see that, and then have rice and curries. Shabeer had told me that we should come here one day. Niyas also said the same thing. So I thought of doing a video here. We checked the reviews. Generally, there are good reviews about this restaurant. We will also try. Here, fish curry is being made. It is cooked in the Kottayam style, using pot tamarind. Cassava and beef are also kept ready. Beef fry is there. Cassava biriyani is about to be made. Is this dry fish for chutney? It is to be given as fried fish. And all these? These are birds eye chili chutney and red chili chutney, side dish with cassava. This is mango chutney with coconut. Buttermilk curry. This is Kozhikode style fish curry. A mix of Kozhikode and Kottayam styles. These are the dishes. There are quite a lot. There, Kottayam style fish curry is already made. Here, Kozhikode style curry is kept ready. Cassava is also ready. We just have to eat now. There is one more special item, Tawa fish. We will see that. After that, we will eat. Fish curry is boiling. They will put the fish pieces only after it thickens a little more. In Kottayam, we keep the fish curry for two days. Then all spices and sourness will mix well with the fish. It tastes superb. Dry fish gives a different feel. In olden times, we could eat a pot of rice with a piece of dry fish. My grandmother was there. She needed just dry fish chutney with rice. Rice soup, actually. Just rice soup and dry fish chutney, with one bird’s eye chili. I told you though the name is Shap, we don’t get toddy here. But rice soup is there. The color of this is same as the color of toddy. This is hot rice soup. Nice hot rice soup. A bit of salt is added. This is the best drink with rice. The feel of rice soup. I am keeping this papadam aside. There are two places here, one is Kottayam and the other is Kozhikode. And our Kerala special dry fish. We get it everywhere in Kerala. It is something that we all like. Which one to start with? As you are from Kottayam, start with Kottayam dish. Okay, I agree with you. Let me start with Kottayam. It is very hot. It is good. It would have been better if it was a little more sour. But this is good. This fish has very soft flesh. Let me mix this fish curry gravy with the rice. Here we have coconut mango chutney. Let me add that also with this. A bit of thoran also. A piece of aviyal too. Just one piece. For getting that mixed flavor of everything. When I ate everything together, the best thing I liked is the sour taste of mangoes in the chutney. Thorns might be there. If you can eat them, it is good. The name of fish is Mullan(thorn) So we have to be careful about thorns. It is good. Once again, rice and curries. One of my friends told me something. He said we should break the papadam and mix it with rice. So I am trying that. We shouldn’t forget Kozhikode. After Kottayam, now it is time for Kozhikode. This is made in Kozhikode style. The other one was in Kottayam style. Both are good. Simply superb. I was thinking of trying this later. Let me eat now. This is extremely delicious. Among all the items I ate, this is the one I liked the most. The juice was also superb. I am not saying that lunch is bad. But this is the item that I liked the most. Good taste of coconut oil. It is made with their special masala. That also gives a good taste. The real taste of pearl spot mixed with the taste of masala.. I am out of words.. A good dish. If we wish, we can squeeze lemons on top. But I am not doing that because the real taste will be lost then. It has its own taste. This is also a special Item here, this is kozhi idichathu.
