Tonight we’re staying in like a traditional Chhattisgarhi house and we’re gonna eat something quite special as well. Yeah, very unique to Chattisgarh. A type of insect. Okay, so keep watching and now where we are We’re on our way to where bro? Barsur. We’re on our way there to go and stay at a home- stay there, like the traditional kind of a home-stay and eat some local food and Along this road are so many Army men from the Chattisgarh arm force and we’ve actually lost cellphone reception So the cellphone reception went off just before we came into this area. There’s another check post before we get to Barsar Actually, they spelled the name wrong. It’s pronounced like Barsur, I think. Okay, here’s the right sign. Barsur. We gonna take this road and Go down there Yes Three traffic police here keeping an eye on people. I wonder if these cows over here have to have to register as well. I guess not. It feels a little bit like Jammu and Kashmir here because there’s so many Army guys. Like every hundred meters, We’re seeing a patrol kind of out in the bushes here Yeah, and actually they’re not here every time. I’ve just found out that there is an election coming here So they here just securing the area making sure nothing happens and where we are in Barsur, it’s not a you know, it’s not a well-explored place, especially by foreigners because some people are scared of the Naxalites and these types of things so not many people are coming here, even though they’re trying to promote it as a Tourist destination, but I’m having a great time here and absolutely loving it in this place is just paradise I guess one day once the tourists come you know, and then it won’t be paradise like it is right now So I’m so happy. I’m here now. Super happy. Just peace. It’s heaven, it’s actually heaven. We have reached Barsur. Let’s go and check out where we gonna stay. How’s the ambience of this place? And we have arrived at our home-stay. We are staying in this beautiful village here in Barsur. Oh my god! And this is a Naxalite area. This is an area that you know foreigners the tourists are especially even Indian tourists are afraid to come to because of the Naxalites and you know, they want they want freedom and they want more attention from the government. So yeah, I’m happy to be here. This is paradise like there’s no cell phone reception. There’s nothing here, Just us and nature. It’s just so simple there chickens running around, these cows everywhere. They have these houses made of, kind of mud and tin roofs with rocks on top to keep the roof down. Some of them have like tiles on the roofs and you cook in a very simple method with a stove and with wood and yes, just Just a beautiful place to visit. Just take a look. Animals running around, so green. We are staying right here with the local people. See that little farm behind the house Beautiful OK we’ve just arrived at the homestay. I sat down and they told me to take my shoes off. I got no idea why Now what? Traditional Culture What’s he gonna do? oh no, no, you don’t have to wash my feet. It’s a tradition here. Okay, thank you, oh, thank you. Welcome, you are welcome here. Thank you I’m being welcomed into the village, with my feet being washed because it’s a very important thing here because everybody uses their feet to walk everywhere and without shoes. And yeah, this is very traditionally Indian as well how they hang the wreath over your head to Greet you and welcome you in. So this is our room tonight, me and Chintamani, we’ll be sleeping here. We’ve got two beds put together. And as you can see these beds they’re made of wood basically. And you’ve got plastic wrap over them so you can sleep on these. They have simple village beds and you find these all across India. These beds actually and when we were in Haryana we sleep on these on the roof or in Rajasthan. And it’s the best experience. Now, I’m looking forward to trying the food here. Let’s explore the village a little bit more and then we’ll try the local food. We’re just going down to visit the Indravati River. It’s a very big river here in Chhattisgarh. And a host, he is making a fishing net and it takes him one whole year to make this fishing net. Can you imagine how much time he spent on this, my god, and so I saw him carrying us around earlier I was wondering what he was doing with it. But literally, he’s just going to carry it around And any spare time he has, he’ll be working on this until it’s done. Then he can make that net and use it to catch fish for home, right? No shops here. There is nothing. This is a rural village living here in Chhattisgarh. The only problem when you’re staying in a village is the mosquitoes. So make sure you bring some mosquito repellent. And now talking about insects, we’re gonna eat an insect very very soon. It’s a local delicacy here and chutney, We have a feast for village Kings here Oh my god, the amount of food we have here is amazing, and the rice. There’s no way I can finish this. But just waiting to see what we have. Let me show you we have a traditional soup here. We have a lental. We have bamboo and this is what I saw at the market today. This is how you cook bamboo. Then we have the famous ant chutney. And bean curry as well and there’s a ton of rice. We’re gonna try all the stuff right now to see how it is. And all this food, it comes fresh from their farm at the very front of this house which is incredible. Even the ants are local and I guess the ants are non-veg. All right, guys, let’s dig and let’s try the ant chutney first. That’s what everybody wants to know what it tastes like, right See, you eat with your hands from the village. Of course. I’ve got my plate here. I didn’t make it look too pretty when you just pick up your food in your hands like there and straighten Whoa, oh my god, that’s fire The ends are hotter than hell. My god, It’s hot and spicy. It has a lot of chillies. They get the ants live and they ground the ants down and then they put a ton of chilly. They use like a mortar and pestle turn and ground the ants down into this chutney. It doesn’t taste like ants. It just tastes like any other kind of Really really hot chilly chutney. And I guess it gives you a bit of protein as well even those are insects. So you can’t taste the ants. Definately can’t taste ants but it is hotter than hell. I’m not kidding. Oh my god! My mouth is still burning. So let’s try the bamboo. I’ve never eaten bamboo before. Hmm the bamboo has a really really subtle taste really really really good taste. They’ve mixed in Chole with it, perfect for me. Yeah, it’s hard to describe this flavor. It doesn’t taste like anything else I’ve ever had before a bamboo. It has the texture of ginger you kind of crunch through the bamboo But the flavor is completely completely different if use a lot of turmeric it taste like turmeric and in this preparation So let’s try the lentil. Yeah, it’s a normal lentil. It’s good. It’s good. Everything is good so far. It’s amazing. now Well, traditional kind of soup and rice So that yellow soup is made of like bamboo as well as for bamboo mixed into it and the flavor again guys. I’m going hopeless on the flavors on this, really unique. The flavors are just incredible. There’s nothing like home-cooked Vegetarian food, nothing like it. Have you eaten ant chutney before? Not yet.
You have You’re from here though, offcourse you have. Prince is from this region so he had motive end. But yeah, you can’t tell Everybody here loves it. And actually guys the reason I can’t give you the exact flavors of this stuff is because it’s all made from local ingredients and local masalas and local produce. We just don’t even have this stuff in Delhi, right? This is all from the farm here in Chattisgarh. It is all different. So you have to come here if you want to try these flavors, that’s a beautiful thing about visiting villages in India You’re getting what’s grown locally and what’s made locally. Yeah, they’re not going to the store to buy these on spices. They’re literally making everything themselves everything that’s gone into this is being made at home. And like always I have finished way earlier way before these guys He’s very fast. After this rain stops so we’re gonna go outside, we’re gonna sit around the fire and just Just chill and we’re gonna sleep so so much tonight because It’s a really really tiring day Now check out the rest of my Chattisgarh videos in the playlist and just watch the entire channel if you want to learn more About India and you know make sure your trip to India is incredible like it should be. One more thing it’s the next morning now and I should tell you the price, right? It’s 400 rupees for the room, for upto four people and then a hundred rupees for their huge dinner. We had 100 rupees per person. Of course, this is 800 rupees for the feast and the room for one night for four guys. Which is just incredible. Jai hind.
