On 30th July 2019, Amit Shukla a man from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh ordered food from Zomato. When a person delivered his food, he saw that the man was a Muslim and cancelled his order. Zomato has a chat option. In that Amit sent a message and said that he does not want a muslim delivery agent. He couldn’t accept a Muslim. Why? because it was the Shravan month in which non-vegitarian food is not allowed. This is why he can not accept food from the person and cancelled his order. He then wrote a post on Twitter and said that he does not want a Muslim delivery agent. Delivery agent belonging to any other religion will be fine but not a Muslim. He also demanded a refund for the cancelled food. Zomato then responded to the Tweet and said that Food has no religion because food is important for health and gives happiness. Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal said that he agreed with Zomato’s Tweet. He said that Zomato caters to people of different religions and respects them equally. This is very important. Zomato has strong values and beliefs that they will follow as they are very important. They are ready to bear the loss and give a refund. They are not worried about their loss as their beliefs must develop. People supported Zomato and said that they were right. The man’s behaviour of not accepting food from a Muslim is completely wrong.
